The dream of the 5-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi of Afganistan, the boy who captured the hearts of football fans across the globe with his Lionel Messi ‘bag shirt’ has finally come true.
It was confirmed that Murtaza received a signed Argentine jersey from the 5-time world footballer of the year.

“I love Messi and my shirt says Messi loves me,” Murtaza said upon receiving the 28-year-old’s gift.

It would be recalled that a photo of Murtaza wearing a blue and white plastic bag with Messi’s name and number scrawled onto it went viral on several social media platforms in January.
According to Murtaza’s father, Arif Ahmadi, all his efforts to get the legend’s jersey proved abortive as they live in a very remote area.

“Murtaza became a fan of Messi by watching television,” he said.
“He asked me to find a Messi shirt for him with Messi’s name on it but I couldn’t find him the jersey because we live in a remote village far from the bazaar.
