The Federal Government has hit back at the Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, over statements they made last Tuesday after they were arraigned for allegedly forging the Standing Rules of the upper legislative chamber. The government said it would be better for Saraki and Ekweremadu to either honourably resign or face the judicial process. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, said statements issued by both Senate leaders targeting the government and President Muhammadu Buhari as an individual as if the executive arm was the initiator of the forgery case against them was not acceptable. Late former Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi’s son was at the Glass House yesterday to sign the condolence register in honor of his late dad.Keshi Jnr arrived Nigeria yesterday from USA.

This is quite sad. Former Super Eagles coach coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, is dead, TheCable newspaper has reported. He was 54. According to the paper, the death of the former international was confirmed by his relatives and close associates. Mr. Keshi had lost his wife of 33 years, Kate, to cancer last year. “He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of illness, but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife,” TheCable quoted one of his friends, whose name was not given, as saying. Mr Keshi, popularly called the Big Boss, is the only Nigerian coach to have won the Africa Cup of Nations.

Sahara Reporters who first broke the story have now been slammed by the Saraki’s twitter handle calling the story false. Sahara Reporters on their part stand by the story and insist it is true. The Federal Government has scrapped the conduct of post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) for candidates seeking admission into higher institution across the country. Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, said this on Thursday in Abuja after declaring open the 2016 Combined Policy Meeting on Admissions to Universities, Polytechnics and other institutions. Minister Adamu expressed confidence in the examination conducted by JAMB and added that there was no need for other examination to be conducted by universities after JAMB. He said: “As far as I am concerned the nation has confidence in what JAMB is doing. The universities should not be holding another examination and if the universities have any complain against JAMB let them bring it and then we address it. “If JAMB is qualified enough to conduct tests and they have conducted test then there will be no need to conduct another test for students to gain admission.” The Minister also asked the JAMB

Fresh reports from Spain say that La Liga giants, Real Madrid is willing to loan back to Manchester United for the 2016-17 season Spain goalkeeper, David de Gea. The management of Ecobank Nigeria has fired 1040 of its staff. A source in the bank says the job cut was initially pegged at 1400 but it was reviewed down to 1040. A statement by the bank’s Managing Director, Charles Kie, states that certain jobs in the bank are being streamlined for a reduced number of people to do so as to bring about improved efficiency. The statement in part reads; “The bank, in its renewed drive for optimal performance, has in addition realigned certain roles bank wide to ensure improved efficiency. This necessitates the exits of some staff who were adequately compensated. This is in furtherance of a market repositioning exercise designed to strengthen the bank’s business across all markets where it operates.” he said Diamond bank also relieved 200 of its staff of their jobs recently.
