The Federal Government and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have reached various agreements, following negotiations which commenced yesterday, Wednesday, May 25, 2016. The government also set up a 16 man committee to look into the issue of fuel price hike, minimum wage and the palliative measures that government has put in place. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Engineer Lawal David Babachir, also announced that President Buhari has appointed Alhaji Mohammed Buba as the new  chairman of Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA). The re-constitution of the PPPRA was also part of the agreement reached by both parties during negotiations earlier. This follows a recent picture of the 29-year-old helping his girlfriend and mother of his twins, Olga Diyachenko with the babies. Diyachenko recently took to her Instagram page (@olga_allegra) to share a picture of Mikel all smiles, as he spent quality time with his baby. The Nigeria oil and gas as well as the solid minerals sectors Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative NEITI audit report for 2013 has been published. The Minister of Solid Minerals and Chairman of the NEITI Board, Kayode Fayemi, said the audit, which focused on all aspects of the extractive industries, showed that total revenue flows into the Federation Account from the oil and gas sector in 2013 was about $58.07 billion. The figure represented about eight per cent decline when compared to the $62.9 billion realised in 2012. Mr. Fayemi said the decline was attributed to the drop in oil and gas sales following divestment of federation equity in some oil mining leases, OMLs, crude oil losses as a result of destruction of production facilities, pipelines vandalism and crude oil theft. Details of the report revealed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC and its sub-units during the year either lost or refused to remit a total of N2.23 trillion, c

There was an outrage on Sunday over the Friday night attack by criminals suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Oke Ako in Ikole Ekiti Local Government Area of Ekiti State. Two persons died from the attack while three others are receiving treatment in separate private hospitals in Ikole Ekiti and Ado Ekiti. Governor Ayodele Fayose has warned that there could be reprisal attacks on Fulani herdsmen in the state if they did not desist from invading communities and attacking the people. He described the assailants as “agents of the devil that must be fished out and punished accordingly.” The governor, who commiserated with the people, especially the family of the deceased, vowed to do everything within his power to forestall the reoccurrence of such attack and safeguard the lives of Ekiti people. Fayose in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said the Fulani herdsmen were becoming a major threat to the unity of Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari will spend N3.914bn on the maintenance of the Presidential Villa, Abuja this year. This is apart from another N282.962m he has already set aside for the General Maintenance Services of State House (Headquarters); and the N41.844m budgeted for General Maintenance Services of State House Operations (Vice President). These figures are contained in the details of the 2016 Appropriation Act recently signed into law by the President and made available on the website of the Budget Office. According to the details, the Federal Government will pay the N3.914bn to a construction giant, Julius Berger Plc, saddled with the responsibility of maintaining the seat of power. The amount is tagged Annual Routine Maintenance of Villa Facilities. The State House Operations (President) got a total allocation of N1.698bn in the budget while State House Operations (Vice-President) got a total allocation of N289.617bn. Louis van Gaal has been sacked as manager of Manchester United, with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho set to be named as his replacement.
